The UNT Career Center is the centralized career office responsible for the career development and employment of all UNT[ students and alumni. It has responsibility for all Student Employment, Internships, and Post-Graduate Employment ofUNTstudents.Due to the impacts of COVID, the job market is rapidly changing, and students are in need of greater job preparation support. Students have identified thatCOVIDhas changed their intended career focus and/or the workforce needs for their chosen profession has changed because of the pandemic. These changes for students include the desire to serve others and/or the desire to identify a vocation that allows for more work/life balance. Additionally, the workforce changes include the need to work remotely as well as how positions are hired. Students are in need of better training and support to adjust to a virtual hiring process. Because of this need,UNTis hiring more career advisors to embed in the colleges to enhance support and provide more personal outreach to students. The increase in career advisors allows more students to have individualized attention that helps prepare them for these changes.For this position, the Career Center at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Student Services Coordinator (Career Advisor) to join the College of Science team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:* Lead efforts toward planning and implementing career development and job search programs and services to students, by working with students, faculty and staff in the College of Science.* Individual advising and group workshops.* Partnering with academic advisors and counselors in the college to support internship goals for their assigned department, working with the Career Center internship specialist to assist with ensuring that available internships meet all departmental requirements for credit and the students that apply are eligible for the internship.* Cultivate and manage relationships with current and new employers recruiting students from assigned department, in partnership with the assigned department and theUNTCareer Center.* Lead job market research efforts for their assigned area, in order to provide current and relevant data to faculty and students.* Work directly with student organizations in making connections for career-related presentations and/or recommending industry speakers/mentors.* Contribute to the Career Center's assessment of career programs and services.* Provide marketing of career services to students and faculty in the assigned department.Master's Degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.The University of North Texas System and its component institutions are committed to equal opportunity and comply with all applicable federal and state laws regarding nondiscrimination and affirmative action.
