Job Description Job Description Position Summary The Bench Technician is responsible for producing high-quality, hand-finished aerospace components through deburring, tumbling, and surface finishing processes. This role ensures parts meet customer specifications, internal quality standards, and AS9100 requirements while maintaining safety, efficiency, and cleanliness in the work area. The Bench Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of defect-free, customer-compliant aerospace components by applying skilled hand-finishing techniques, thorough inspection practices, and strict adherence to quality and safety standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Safety & Compliance Follow all company production planning requirements, build package instructions, AS9100 policies and procedures, job descriptions, and employee handbook guidelines. Maintain a safe work environment by wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and dust masks. Utilize dust-collection systems and keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards such as spills, debris, unsecured extension cords, or air hoses. Begin work promptly at scheduled start times and after breaks. Production & Quality Review scrap history prior to beginning assigned jobs. Examine scrap and rework tags, traveler notes, and markings on parts before processing. Interpret engineering drawings, Standard Manufacturing Instructions (SMIs), and visual aids. Select and properly use sanding and finishing media-including cartridge rolls, Roloc discs, and sanding belts-based on material alloy and required surface finish. Perform deburring and bench finishing to remove chatter, dwell marks, mismatches, and burrs while maintaining: Thickness tolerances Radii and chamfers Edge breaks and distances Hole diameters and steps Customer-specified surface finishes Accurately record bench time in the JobBOSS data-collection system. Protect work-in-process parts from corrosion, damage, or contamination. Inspection & Documentation Conduct 100% dimensional inspection of benched parts using calipers and micrometers, including checks of: Hole edge distances Rib and floor thicknesses Other critical features Record inspection results on designated critical-part documentation. Immediately notify Quality of any unusual inspection trends. Identify and report any discrepant parts to Quality without delay. Equipment & Area Maintenance Perform routine maintenance and care of bench equipment, including: Bench grinders Tumblers Air compressors Air hoses Dust-collection systems Qualifications & Skills Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Familiarity with aerospace finishing and deburring practices Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work efficiently in a production environment Commitment to safety, housekeeping and continuous improvement High School degree or equivalent There is a drug screen required if you are hired for this position.
