Classification Summary:
-This position is responsible for overseeing landscape and mow crews and ensuring quality work is being performed daily in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.

Representative Task:
-Creates and manages daily routes and schedule for multiple Grounds/Landscape Crews.
-Works closely with Crew Leaders and other team members to ensure that their work is completed safely, properly, and efficiently.
-Works closely with Grounds Manager to identify problem areas on campus and provide ideas for solutions/improvements.
-Estimates, plans, and orders materials, plants, and supplies needed for landscape tasks and projects.
-Ensures that litter and debris on campus is promptly removed.
-Provides ongoing informal and formal training to ensure a safe working environment and proper use of vehicles, equipment, and tools.
-Performs administrative duties including but not limited to: approving timesheets and leave requests, requesting purchase orders, completing performance reviews, and communicating with university personnel as needed.
-Supports Landscape, Irrigation, and Recycling Teams as needed.
-Provides support and leadership during snow, ice, and other inclement weather events.
- This position is considered to be essential personnel, and may require working overtime, which could include nights and weekends as needed.


High school diploma/ GED equivalent and six years of experience in related landscaping field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
-Six years of experience in landscape related work.
-Three years of experience leading a team.
-Bachelors Degree in a related field.
-Knowledge of turf and landscape maintenance and equipment
-Ability to communicate in Spanish

The Facilities Maintenance Department supports the academic, research, housing, and dining facility needs for the University of North Texas while providing responsible stewardship and efficient operation of the Universitys physical assets. The Facilities Maintenance team performs routine and preventative maintenance and repairs of the campus buildings and utility infrastructure. Grounds services provides an aesthetically pleasing environment for University faculty, staff, students, and visitors by maintaining all campus turf, landscapes, irrigation system, litter control, solid waste management and recycling. Facilities Maintenance maintains, repairs, constructs, and renovates University facilities and installed systems in accordance with applicable codes and regulations, and in conformance with University policies and standards.
