Job Purpose

The Superintendent is responsible for assigning projects to the Foremen and directing work in the field ensuring it is completed properly and MasTec gets paid by the customer. This position supports the overall business and works with senior management, customers, and personnel in various departments.

Essential Functions

  1. Supervise crews in the field to complete quality work on-time and with reasonable manhours.

  2. Provide training to ensure compliance to safety rules and regulations.

  3. Implement LEAN continuous improvement principles and waste elimination.

  4. Sustain tool inventory daily.

  5. Implement and follow company policies and procedures.

  6. Coach, train, and evaluate Foreman work performance.

  7. Develop "pre-job" drill construction plans at least 3 days prior to "drill start".

  8. Approve data from Foreman relating to time worked, work progress, equipment needs, accidents, injuries, property damage, vehicle damage, and safety issues.

  9. Responsible for overall quality and quantity of work performed.

  10. Encourage collaboration and team building with all employees.

  11. Oversee requisition of supplies and materials to complete projects.

  12. Prepare and present Business Status Report at weekly management meetings.

  13. Document and communicate needs, requirements, and improvement of best practices to Project Manager.

  14. Complete customer invoicing paperwork.

  15. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. A High School Diploma, or equivalent.

  2. 5 years of related experience, including field and supervisory experience.

  3. Good written and verbal communication skills.

  4. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.

  5. Precise hand-eye coordination.

  6. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.

  7. Ability to prints, sketches, drawings, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance manuals.

  8. Ability to operate equipment.

  9. Ability to travel and respond to emergency situations, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or equivalent.

  2. Previous experience supervising multiple crews.

  3. Operator Qualification (OQ) Certification.

  4. A CDL Class A License.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
