Job Description:
Summary
* DME is seeking a Senior or Regular operator for this role.
Candidates with experience that do not meet the minimum
qualifications at the Senior level, will be considered for an
Energy Market Operator role.
Under minimal supervision, leads, monitors, analyzes and responds
to real time, day ahead and short-term market operations, resource
dispatch and QSE management, including commercial activities.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
Essential Job Functions:
* Performs energy management functions including operation of
computerized energy market systems, provides network/market
analysis, short term load/gen forecasts, generation dispatch,
capacity optimization, and short-term portfolio management
including bids/offers/transactions
* Determines generation requirements and issues/responds to
dispatch/operating instructions to resources, including unit start
up and shut down, load response and other QSE activities to meet
market operations' responsibilities
* Analyzes data to discover patterns and or discrepancies by
reviewing pricing trends and determines revisions to loads, daily
load forecasts, ERCOT systems, and resource capabilities for
meeting energy and capacity demands. Calls out support staff as
needed
* Monitors and responds to market conditions and changes dispatch
schedules as required
* Monitors weather conditions for dispatch impacts and revises
schedules and bids/offers and takes market actions to mitigate or
optimize market/operational risks
* Coordinates ERCOT instructions with power plant operators,
resource staff and 3rd party partners/counterparties to meet market
demands by determining resource requirements or load forecast
* Conducts short term purchases and sales of energy, capacity and
ancillary services to meet market operations
* Runs day ahead market activities as required by reviewing
forecast functions and makes any necessary adjustments for resource
allocation, bidding, and fuel requirements
* Supports fuel purchases and scheduling as required and as part of
the energy management team to optimize real time assets
* Records data in and on appropriate forms, logs, spreadsheets, and
systems
* Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:
(Senior Level):
* A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Engineering,
Finance, Mathematics, or in a field related to the position plus
three (3) years of related work experience
OR
* A Master's Degree in a related field or a CPA may be substituted
for one (1) year of related work experience
OR
* Associates degree plus five (5) years of related experience to
the job
OR
* Any combination of related education, experience, certifications
and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully
performing the essential functions of the job
Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency
(Energy Market Operator):
* A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Engineering,
Finance, Mathematics, or in a field related to the position plus
one (1) year of related work experience
OR
* A Master's Degree in a related field or a CPA may be substituted
for one (1) year of related work experience
OR
* Associates degree plus three (3) years of related experience to
the job
OR
* Any combination of related education, experience, certifications
and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully
performing the essential functions of the job
Core Competencies:
* Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience
and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable
accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be

* Knowledge of procedures and methods used in energy market
operations
* Knowledge of resource, power plant and transmission system
dispatch/response operations
* Knowledge of ERCOT and / or NERC operating protocols and
guidelines
* Knowledge of EECP and Black Start processes
* Knowledge of energy buying/selling, power markets and dispatch
economics
* Knowledge of electric generation fuel requirements
* Skill in training and monitoring of work
* Skill in performing and recording basic mathematical
calculations
* Skill in the use of software and equipment required to dispatch
generation facilities and resources
* Skill in effective oral and written communication
* Skill in maintaining records
* Skill in analyzing data
* Ability to work independently and in teams
* Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts
* Ability to obtain/maintain applicable ERCOT or NERC
certifications
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in
writing
* Working knowledge of MS Office suite products including Excel,
Word, Outlook, etc.
Preferences:
Bilingual in Spanish and English
Conditions of Employment:
* Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Driver's License and
valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior
to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and
state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90
days of hire per state law)
* Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history
background check, and social security number verification check
Licenses and Certifications:
* NERC and/or ERCOT System Operator Certification
